Hector Lombard paired with Rousimar Palhares at UFC on FX 6

Two of the most dangerous middleweights on the UFC?s roster have agreed to face off this December 14 in the form of a bout between finishers Hector Lombard and Rousimar Palhares. Together they have combined for 35 stoppages in 45 total wins and will each be hungry to put the other away after stumbles in their most recent outings.

UFC officials have confirmed the UFC on FX 6 fight. The card is set to take place in Sydney, Australia.

The only middleweight champion in Bellator history, Lombard made his UFC debut in July where his twenty-fight winning streak was laid to waste in a closely-contested Split Decision defeat to Tim Boetsch. The loss dropped Lombard?s overall record down to 31-3-1 and was his first since 2006.

A Closer Look at Lombard’s Loss to Boetsch

Comparably, Palhares is coming off a failed outing against Alan Belcher but had also looked sharp prior to the pairing. The 14-4 ?Toquinho? has beaten the likes of Dan Miller and Jeremy Horn, scoring ten of his victories by way of submission.

Good news: Dan Miller?s son received a new kidney

UFC fighter Dan Miller has been on a long quest to find health for his son, Danny, who was born with kidney problems that required near constant dialysis. Finally, Danny has kidney function after a kidney transplant on Thursday.

Dan's brother, UFC fighter Jim Miller, shared the good news.

Danny's kidney transplant was made possible in part by support of the MMA community. When insurance wouldn't pay for the transplant, Miller's fight gym held fundraisers. Jim gave the proceeds from his UFC on Fox 3 walkout shirt to his nephew's cause. Cage Potato designed and sold shirts, too.

Now, we get to see the happy ending to the story. Danny finally has kidney function.

Joe Rogan positive people will forget about Jon Jones' role in UFC 151 cancellation

Longtime UFC announcer (and rabid MMA fan) Joe Rogan understands why so many people are upset at light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. He might even agree with them to an extent. However, Rogan has also kept perspective on the entire situation instead of instantly labeling Jones as a coward or questioning his contributions to the sport.

Rogan recently went online to offer up his take on the situation where he reminded fans about another UFC champion who was once viewed in a negative light but has since regained status as one of MMA?s biggest stars.

?Everyone was SUPER pissed at Anderson Silva after the Demian Maia fight, and even (UFC President Dana White) said he would cut Anderson if he fought that way again. Look at what time has healed,? explained Rogan in a post on The Underground. ?After the spectacular Vitor Belfort KO, the Chael Sonnen comeback Triangle and the complete dismantling of Chael in the rematch, no one ever talks about Abu Dhabi and the Maia fight anymore.?

Silva took a good deal of heat after his win over Maia for toying around and refusing to engage instead of going in for the kill against a massively out-classed competitor.

?If Jon Jones can stay on track, keep being the amazing fighter that he’s shown himself to be inside the Octagon in EVERY single fight he’s ever had, and continue to improve at the staggering rate that he’s shown so far, in two fights no one will talk about this cancelled fight,? Rogan concluded. ?The man is young, and he’s made a mistake or two, but he’s still got all the potential to go down in history as an all time great, if not THE all time great.?

Pat Miletich Disagrees with UFC’s Handling of Jones

Jones will get a chance to make the first step back towards getting in the good graces of his superiors and former supporters in a few weeks when he faces Belfort at UFC 152.

Knockout of the week: Dan Henderson introduces Wanderlei Silva to his fist

For the Knockout of the Week, we jump into the DeLorean and head back to 2007 for Dan Henderson's last Pride fight. Here, he is fighting fellow Pride star Wanderlei Silva, and shows the "Axe Murderer" just what the H-Bomb looks like.

When the UFC swallowed up Pride, it took many of its fighters and its fight footage, but left behind its pageantry. Example one: the confetti that came down at the end of Henderson's win. What do we need to do to bring confetti back? It will add an air of festivity that is sorely missing from the end of fight nights.

What's not missing from the UFC is Henderson hitting people in the head really hard. He'll get another chance to show off that H-Bomb on Sept. 1 against Jon Jones. Is he the guy who can stop Jones? Tell us in the comments, on Twitter or on Facebook.

Michael Chiesa making first post-TUF appearance against Rafaello Oliveira at UFC on FOX 5

After one of the most memorable runs in Ultimate Fighter history, TUF 15 stand-out Michael Chiesa will look to follow up his season-winning success this December when he faces Rafaello Oliveira. Oliveira should prove to be a stiff test for Chiesa as a more experienced competitor both in terms of Octagon action and overall outings.

According to UFC officials the two lightweights will tussle at UFC on FOX 5. The card is headlined by a title-fight between 155-pound champion Benson Henderson and fierce foe Nate Diaz.

Chiesa earned a ton of fans on TUF 15 with his heart, overcoming the death of his father during taping to emerge as the last man standing. The ?Maverick? holds an overall record of 8-0 including six wins by way of submission.

A Closer Look at Chiesa’s TUF 15 Championship

Oliveira is 15-5 in his career and is also coming off a win. He has finished eight of the opponents he?s beaten with victories over John Gunderson and Yoislandy Izquierdo under the UFC banner.
